Books to Movies Challenge - December Check-In

Hurry up, there’s only one more month left to complete the 2011 Books to Movies Challenge!!!

Speaking for us, we’re going to need every last day to complete our last 3 requirements.  We’ve had to mix up our original choices and reprioritize our Netflix queue, but there’s an outside chance we can STILL cross the finish line victoriously.  Water for Elephants is first on the schedule, followed closely by Stand by Me.  We might retry the movie version of Howl’s Moving Castle; however the first 35 minutes inadvertently put us to sleep....

Books to Movies Challenge - October Check-In

Only 3 months left to complete the wildly fun Books to Movies Challenge! 

While we did complete The Help last month, our outlook for October is looking rather bleak.  Wolf Hall and Gormenghast are proving to be major obstacles.  Plus, we have a family wedding coming up, we might plant a large tree in our yard, we just had a garage sale, new seasons of Dancing with the Stars and Parks and Recreation keep drawing one of us in, and the Indiana basketball season is about to start.  See, we’re really good at excuses and if we didn’t feel the need to save some good ones for next month we could go on and on and on....

Hope everyone else is making better progress!!!  Be sure to link up your reviews so we can check out which medium has supremacy. 

Books to Movies Challenge - September Check In

We’re back for the official Books to Movies Challenge September Check in!

Try as we might to make excuses, August was a dismal month for us...  We STILL haven’t made it to the movie version of The Help and not one review was posted that fit into this challenge.  The good news is that we had a long heart to heart conversation last night and plan to turn things around in September.  A babysitter is lined up for this weekend and a paperback copy of Trainspotting is waiting for us at the library!

Books to Movies Challenge - August Check In

Time for the official Books to Movies Challenge August Check-in!  Yikes, that was a mouthful.  We saw some great reviews in July and it would appear Books have reasserted their natural strength.  All is right with the world again...    

We’re still stuck on review number 2, although we did complete The Help read and are anxiously awaiting the movie release.  Hopefully we’ll be able to make some better progress in August!!!

Following a long night of healthy debate, we have come to an agreement on our picks for the 2011 Book to Movie Challenge!  Of course, all books listed below are subject to change without notice or remorse...  For now we’ll be shooting for the Blockbuster level with high hopes of adding a few more.

Books to Movies Challenge

 

A mere five months into 2011 and we here at Two Bibliomaniacs are already feeling restless.  Not a life altering type of restlessness, but more like a stubborn rash on the back of your knee kind of irritation.  While applying our metaphorical ointment, it hit us.  We need another reading challenge.  Nay.  We need to host another reading challenge.  Nay.  Actually that’s it....

Introducing the 2011 BOOKS TO MOVIES CHALLENGE!!!

The name is pretty much self-explanatory (and hopefully original).  We’ve decided to merge our two favorite pastimes (beside sleep and inactivity).  The rules are SIMPLE.  Read a book.  Watch the movie.  Both milestones must be completed in order to receive full marks.  There are 4 levels of participation to choose from.

Straight to Video – Read 2 books and view the film adaptations.

Limited Release – Read 4 books and view the film adaptations.

Blockbuster – Read 6 books and view the film adaptations.

Oscar Buzz – Read 8 books and view the film adaptations.

The challenge begins June 1st and will finish December 31st.  Anyone can participate and blog-less readers can sign up in the comments section of this post.  Everyone else, make the Linky as full as possible.  All books are fair game although all movies must be produced by a semi-reputable film company (no backyard interpretations of Harry Potter).
