Top 10 Authors who Deserve more Recognition

Question: Top 10 authors who deserve more recognition?

Answer: At this point in our reading endeavors we’re very loyal to the reading list produced by the BBC’s Big Read campaign.  Needless to say, most of these authors aren’t struggling with name recognition, although we did try to avoid some of the really BIG names.  While you may recognize some of the below authors, we believe they deserve even more recognition.  Links to our reviews are highlighted.

  1. Jasper Fforde (The Eyre Affair)
  2. Dodie Smith (I Capture the Castle)
  3. Louise Rennison (Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging)
  4. Carlos Ruiz Zafon (The Shadow of the Wind)
  5. Donna Tartt (The Secret History)
  6. Kazuo Ishiguro (Never Let Me Go)
  7. Marian Keyes (Sushi for Beginners)
  8. Francine Rivers (Redeeming Love)
  9. Diane Setterfield (The Thirteenth Tale)
  10. Andrea Levy (Small Island)

Have a great week and head on over to The Broke and the Bookish to join the fun!

  1. Great list, looking forward to checking out the reviews - I'm embarrased to admit that I haven't read any of these books.

  2. Dodie Smith of (to me) 101 Dalmations fame! How many authors become well-known if their book goes to the movies? Obviously, J.K. and Stephanie, but lots go unrecognized. So, great choice!! And Francine Rivers!

  3. The Thirteenth Tale was very well written, and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not aware of anything else she has written. I'm going to go look that up now....

    Great list!

  4. I love Jasper Fforde and have read ALL his books but yes, he deserves MORE recognition!!

Years ago I read a book by Francine Rivers that I absolutely love. It was a western romance. I think it was called OUTLAW'S EMBRACE. But not sure. Terrific book!

  5. Dodie Smith's I Capture the Castle and Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go are both in my current TBR pile--I will be enjoying them both sometime this year...and Fforde is in my "check this out" list for the library.

    Good call!

  7. The only two I've read are Keyes and Ishiguro (who I love, love, love).

I have wanted to read Tartt for some time.
