Top 10 Books We Want to Reread

Question:  Top 10 Books We Want to Reread

Answer: This week’s question requires no clarification or witty forward.  Onto the list...

  1. A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens) – It seems that everyone but us recognized the brilliance of this novel.  Maybe the second time’s the charm.
  2. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) – We never underestimate the power of a good laugh!  You shouldn’t either.
  3. The Hobbit (J.R.R Tolkien) – It’s been far too long since we re-read this one.  Our main goal is to be completely up to speed in time for the movie release.
  4. Magic Kingdom for Sale – Sold (Terry Brooks) – For some reason we (Evan) have very fond memories of this book from childhood (12ish).  It’s time to see if said fondness remains intact as an adult.  Plus, we think there’s a more recent addition to this series???
  5. To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee) – Every so often we need a Scout and Atticus fix.
  6. Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte) – We’re fairly open about the fact that we loathe, loathe, loathe the character of Heathcliff.  That being said, sometimes it’s fun to torture yourself.  Plus, it really is a fascinating book.
  7. Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling) – We’re in the midst of a 14 month dry spell.  Needless to say, it’s nearly time for another reread... or re-listen!
  8. Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy) – For us, this was one of those really intimidating books and we were so focused on surviving that we forgot to enjoy it.  Next year we’ll see if there is anything to enjoy....
  9. Skipping Christmas (John Grisham) – We need a guaranteed good Christmas read this December.  A Christmas Carol was last year, so the Kranks will probably get their chance in 2011.
  10. Ulysses (James Joyce) – Ha!  Only joking!  We will never, no way, no how, ever never read this book again.  NEVER!

Have a great week and head on over to The Broke and the Bookish to join the fun!

  1. If I were going to reread books, I'd probably reread Mockingbird and P&P and the like. But I'm not much of a rereader.

My post is Top Ten Books I Want to Reread. And remember that this is the last week to sign up for my contest to win a $25 Amazon giftcard!

  2. I really want to reread The Hobbit before the movies comes out. I hardly remember anything about it other than I loved it. :) And I never finished all the Hitchhiker books, so I need to reread the first three and then finish the series. LOL at number 10!

  3. I love Anna Karenina- it's really really great when you're not too scared of it! (Ok, I was a bit scared...) Also, YES to To Kill a Mockingbird, I didn't even include it on my list because I just constantly need to re-read it anyway!

  4. Oh no! Is Ulysses that bad? And here I just thought it was the person reading it to me on librivox that was killing all the joy in the room, and my life. Ah well. At least I'll be able to say I survived it.

  5. Coming in at over 250,000 words, Ulysses scares me off!

  6. Oh! The Hobbit! That need to happen. I haven't read that since I was fifteen. I new when I saw A Tale of Two Cities on the list in my Google Reader that it had to be you two. You're the only big Dickens fans I know of (in the blog world anyway). I still haven't gotten to that one. Loved Great Expectations though.

  7. Hitchhiker's Guide is on my list, too. Amazing book. To Kill a Mockingbird and The Hobbit were also both great.

Nice list. Except for Wuthering Heights. Gah, what a steaming pile of ick! : /

  8. 2, 3, 5, 6, & 7 are all books I'd like to re-read too! I'd like to try to read Anna Karenina at least once.

  9. Good variety in your list. I need to reread TKAM and I have for years. I have Ulysses on my list seriously since I've made several attempts that I cut short and so technically haven't read it (although I feel like I have).

Come visit my list at The Scarlet Letter.
